Now tis the season in Kansas where the lawns are brown and dismal looking. The past two days have been cloudy and overcast with a few flurries but not enough to blanket the "brownery" (If that's not an actual word then help me start the trend).
Lynda and I watched the movie "Australia" last night. The plot kept me guessing though you know it all works out in the end. We enjoyed our companions as well, especially because they were unpredictable. I should note that Lynda liked Hugh Jackman, though I'm not sure she saw any of the movie's other characters accept the cute little boy (Nullah).
I put up some new florescent lighting in the garage. After the lamps warm up a bit they're pretty impressive. Its really keener to be greener, should save some energy too. The '51 is currently roosting in the East stall. The Focus in the West stall until Stella (the Accord) comes back from the bodyshop.

Beads on the Brain!
I am getting ready to sell my handmade jewelry at a craft show in Moundridge next weekend, so I have beads on the brain. Dan helped me build some display stands so I am excited to use them. Susan from school and I talked about selling our jewelry to teachers who are interested. I have has some ask, but I am in a rock and a hard place because I don't want to sell all my jewelry before the show. I had to pay a booth fee and so i want to make sure that I have a chance to sell some there. Hopefully I will have better luck at this craft show!

ell the stress continues-- wanting to make jewelry when I should be teaching or planning to teach! Sometimes making jewelry is stressful, I often take the item apart several times before I get it exactly the way I think it should be.
Someone asked to see some pictures of my jewelry and so I took several photos tonite of my beads.
Of course, I won't put all of them here, but just enough to "show off" :).

Blackberry is sitting on top of the printer which means I am not paying enough attention to him. Now he turned it on and is looking at it wondering what is going on. You think he would learn. Gotta go, beads on the brain!

Democrats and Airbags
Last night Dan and I were in Newton and leaving the road by south Dillions and were headed across the street (in our car) towards Kwik Shop and we hit by a guy who ran a red light. We are fine, but our "new" car is not, Stella the Silver Streak is sitting at the body shop awaiting an insurance adjuster. I stopped by today and unloaded the car and took cellphone photos of the damage. It doesn't look pretty. We are hoping that she will not be totalled. :( Anyhoo, not exactly how we wanted to spend our evening.
Tonite we voted, yeah Us! and are watching the news for news on our prospective president. It is definitely time for a change in the big house. Hope it goes our way. Good to know that whatever happens, life will go on. Time to stop this stickin' war.

Cheap Therapy
Today I participated in my first of many (I hope) craft shows. Dan's mom has a stand at some every year and this year I went with her to one in Newton. It took me a long time to set up my jewelry. My friend Susan from school gave me some to sell as well. It was a fairly nonprofitable venture for me. I only sold one thing. :( I bought more than I sold, much to Dan's surprise (yeah, not really). I did "win" a silent auction basket (I knew Dan would just love the basket, one to add to my growing collection!). I had a lot of competition, the market is obviously saturated with jewelry. However, mine were much more original than my competitors. Perhaps the recession is also affecting sales in some of these areas. :( Darn. So next time, hopefully I will do better.
I was excited about one piece in particular. Dan went to a yard sale yesterday and he bought me some glass teardrops from a chandelier. So last nite, he fashioned 2 pendants from them with my silver wire and they are beautiful. So Christmas is approaching and I suppose I can give some jewelry for gifts. I think Dan will look smashing!
