Still Kicking

It has been a long time since we have posted anything. I am home sick with a cold and a very scratchy voice and throat. The hazards of teaching I guess. Our weekends have been so busy that during the week, we need a break. so it is nice to be at home catching up on emails that I don't do during the work day. Most of them were work related so it is good that I am getting paid to be at home. :)

I am working on jewelry quite a bit now, cheap therapy- I tell Dan. I plan to sell some with Dan's mom at a craft show in November. I do some at school when I am tired of lesson plans or grading papers. Addi chose to do jewelry with me as a Christmas present last year. We went to the Newton and bought beads from The Beadery and Creation Station. We also used many of the beads I had at home. This is going to be a yearly event I think. We get fast food for lunch then head back our house and bead and laugh. I always have fun with Addi.

I am really liking school this year. I have some really good classes and we are in the cooking mode now and they love it! I was awake 2 nites ago at 2 am and decided to search for some recipes for cooking labs. It never ends.

Dan continues to work 4 10 hour days, with Fridays off. He likes looking at Friday on Thursday, but on the Monday it seems like a long week. He just put in an outlet in the garage so he can run his welder. He was very excited to get that done and I fancy the idea of giving him some welding projects. Dan has started talking about finishing the old 61 Ford pickup he started overhauling several years ago. It will be a gas guzzler, but it will be a beaut.

We continue to enjoy our house inside and out. We have gutters to put up, hopefully that will help the sump pump run less, thus decreasing our huge electric bill. We also plan to put up composite siding on 2 sides of the house one of these weekends. The garden is still growing, producing many tomatoes, peppers, okra and many, many weeds. It also seems to be the free zone for moles. grr.

This weekend, I have my 20th year college reunion at Hesston College. I am not overally thrilled with it, but have to pretend anyway because I am the reunion Representative this year. How did I get sucked into this??? I am not a huge reunion fan. Fortunately, it will only be a short time in the morning. I would like to see one of Vanessa's volleyball games sometime this weekend. It is fun to sit in the stands and cheer the Larks on. Usually we are entertained by Addi and Ty and I don't watch much of the game. We also plan to attend the banquet in the evening followed by an improv comedy show. Should be fun.

Next weekend is my birthday, don't know what we will do. The following week we are going to the Renaissance Festival with Janell and Don. That should be a jolly good time, hopefully this year it will not rain cats and dogs.

Buster and Earl have departed, not sure if they were someone's breakfast, but I haven't seen them lately. Blackberry continues to like the out of doors and he is a real pistol to get out from under the deck when it is time to come inside. Blackberry has taken to the printer as a way to get our attention when we are either on the computer or watching TV. I know he does it to annoy us. He also hunts the crickets who have moved in with us, tears off their legs and leaves them all over the house. I haven't seem the remants of their bodies so perhaps he eats them. ugh.

We have a white cat with one black spot and black tail that haunts our yard and tree line. I hope she is eating those pesky moles. One evening I set a trash bag out on the porch with the intent on throwing it in the trash can later. I forgot and in the morning when I remembered, I looked out the door and it wasn't there. It wasn't anywhere around. We asked the neighbors and they said that they didn't see it, however they did say that the dog from across the road has been over pretending to be the trash collector. So we assume that the dog came over and took the trash back to his house and had a nice meal. go figure!

Anyhoo, that is new with us. What is new with You? We love comments, so drop us one.

Your story about Blackberry not wanting to come out from under the deck reminds me of my rabbit I use to have. When we would put it outside for some fresh air, it would get under the deck and we would have to crawl under there to try to get her out. As soon as we would try to grab her, she would run away! Oh that rabbit- I thought it would live forever!
